Seminar on the Impact of the Climate Change Crisis in Egypt

Cairo, Egypt

On Tuesday 18 February 2025, CCMUP participated in a seminar hosted by the Embassy of the Netherlands, focused on the impacts of the climate change crisis in Egypt and the role of civil society organizations in helping address these challenges.

The seminar covered various topics, including the causes and current impacts of climate change on Egypt, future projections, international treaties, and local legislation. The government’s strategies and the regions most vulnerable to climate change were also discussed, along with the impacts on refugees and displaced populations.

This event was organized by the Power of Learning Project, which aims to foster collaboration and knowledge production among civil society organizations in Egypt. The project also seeks to provide firsthand research on climate change and its effects on vulnerable populations.

Mr. Kareem Gerges, Director of International Partnerships and Communications, attended the seminar representing CCMUP, highlighting the importance of addressing the root cause of climate change instead of the symptoms, while emphasizing the need for a more vigorous multilateral cooperative approach.
