The Centre of Christian-Muslim Understanding & Partnership (CCMUP) has officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Dialogue Company, on Wednesday 12 March 2025, to launch a peace-building initiative for young adults across Egypt. The project, which will run from now until August 2025, will focus on youth between the ages of 18 and 35 in the provinces of El Menya, Cairo, and Alexandria.
Supported by The King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz International Centre for Interreligious and Intercultural Dialogue (KAICIID), this initiative seeks to promote the values of dialogue, community service, interfaith peace-building, and cooperation within Egyptian society. Through a series of workshops, training programs, and community engagement activities, the project aims to equip young people with the skills and knowledge necessary to combat extremism and violence, fostering a culture of mutual respect and understanding.
“This partnership marks an important step in strengthening interfaith relations and empowering youth as agents of peace within their communities,” said Bishop Dr. Mouneer Anis, CCMUP Director. “By working together with the Dialogue Company, we hope to create a real lasting impact throughout Egyptian society.” said Mr. Kareem Gerges, CCMUP Director of International Partnerships & Communications.
Representing the Dialogue Company (DC) were: Mme. Rana Gaber, the Company’s Director, and Mme. Aml El-Zeny, Director of Partnerships. Both expressed their keen interest in partnering with CCMUP to promote a culture of dialogue and peace within Egyptian society.
Also attended from CCMUP: Mme. Nermine Shenouda, the Centre’s Financial Director, and Dcn. Samir Dawoud, researcher at the Centre’s Academic Program.
The project will involve collaboration with local communities, religious leaders, and civil society organizations to ensure a comprehensive approach to peace-building. Through dialogue and shared experiences, participants will be encouraged to build sustainable relationships and actively contribute to social harmony in Egypt.
