In an expression of ongoing friendship and collaboration, Archbishop Dr. Samy Fawzy, Archbishop of the Anglican Province of Alexandria, and Archbishop-Emeritus Dr. Mouneer Anis, Director of the Centre of Christian-Muslim Understanding & Partnership (CCMUP), and Mr. Selim Wasef, visited the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, Sheikh Dr. Ahmad El-Tayeb.
The purpose of this periodic visit was to share with the Grand Imam the Centre’s latest projects in promoting peace, mutual understanding, and cooperation between people of diverse religious and cultural backgrounds. A key topic of discussion was the Centre’s upcoming Learning Journey program — a program designed to foster interfaith dialogue and experiential learning among Christian & Muslim students of theology and emerging faith leaders in Egypt.
Al-Azhar Al-Sharif is a longstanding strategic partner to both the Anglican Diocese of Egypt and CCMUP. The relationship is rooted in decades of trust-building and cooperation, particularly in the area of interfaith dialogue.
Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, founded over a millennium ago, is the oldest and most esteemed institution of learning and spiritual guidance for nearly 1.5 billion Sunni Muslims around the world.
