On Tuesday 4th March 2024, in the presence of the Most Rev. Dr. Samy Fawzy, Archbishop of the Anglican Province of Alexandria, and H.E. Mrs. Nuala O’Brien, Ambassador of Ireland in Cairo, the Centre of Christian Muslim Understanding & Partnership (CCMUP), co-organized with the Irish Embassy in Cairo an intercultural music workshop for young Egyptian and Irish musicians, at the All Saints Anglican Cathedral in Zamalek, Cairo, as part of the St. Patrick’s day celebration.
The purpose of the workshop was for both Egyptian and Irish young musicians to learn about and appreciate each other’s traditional and heritage music and instruments, while learning how to play music together. And in doing so, they come to gain a more profound understanding and appreciation of each other’s cultures, effectively promoting tolerance, peace and diversity within their communities.
