Cairo, El-Minya, Menouf and Alexandria – Egypt
August, September and October 2025
Recognizing Egypt’s rich cultural, religious, and social diversity, the Centre of Christian-Muslim Understanding & Partnership (CCMUP) has continued its mission to promote interfaith and intercultural peace, as well as inclusive citizenship, by conducting a series of conflict resolution and peacebuilding workshops across 4 Egyptian governorates: Cairo, El-Minya, Menouf and Alexandria, in collaboration with the Egyptian Family House (EFH).
The workshops aim to build participants’ capacities in dialogue, mediation, and community peacebuilding, enabling them to manage and resolve local tensions, prevent escalation, and foster resilient communities that contribute to Egypt’s peace and prosperity.
August, September and October Workshops
In August, two workshops were held at CCMUP’s headquarters in Cairo (August 26–27 and 29–30), followed by two additional workshops in September in Alexandria (September 26–27) and the town of Menouf, in Menoufia Governorate (September 27–28), in addition to another workshop in Cairo (October 17–18).
Each workshop blended learning with interactive exercises, group discussions, and localized case studies. The content covered shared values in Christian and Islamic texts, citizenship and legal frameworks for coexistence, conflict analysis, mediation skills, and practical peacebuilding community initiatives.
Based on participant feedback, the September round incorporated new modules, extended workshops for deeper engagement, and more hands-on activities tailored to the Egyptian context.
Participation and Gender Inclusion
Across all workshops, participation was diverse, bringing together Muslim and Christian community and religious leaders, youth, and professionals from different regions. The August workshops engaged 28 participants (10 women), while the September workshops involved 34 participants (7 women). Facilitators encouraged inclusive dialogue, and steps were taken with EFH to enhance female representation in future workshops.
Evaluation results showed high satisfaction, with most components rated between 4 and 5 on a five-point scale. Participants highlighted the relevance of the content and the trainers’ interactive approach, recommending further updates on citizenship, mediation tools, and practical peacebuilding techniques.
Program Improvements
In response, CCMUP introduced several updates:
- Extended training hours and flexible scheduling (evenings and weekends).
- Enhanced curriculum with additional case studies, localized examples, and topics such as discrimination and family roles.
- Revised structure merging conflict analysis with mediation and dedicating workshops to community peace initiatives.
Upcoming Workshops
Building on the success of these workshops, CCMUP is planning to organize further workshops in El-Minya, Menouf, and Alexandria, alongside community-led peace initiatives.
Through these efforts, CCMUP continues to promote constructive dialogue, mutual understanding, and practical grassroots peace-building community initiatives, reaffirming its commitment to strengthening social cohesion, national unity and inclusive citizenship across Egypt.
