In a ceremony reflecting the commitment of religious and diplomatic institutions to promoting tolerance, the Centre of Christian-Muslim Understanding & Partnership (CCMUP) celebrated the conclusion of its “Conflict Resolution and Peacebuilding” training program in Cairo.
The event featured the graduation of participants from sessions held across the Cairo and Menofia governorates. The initiative was implemented by CCMUP in collaboration with The Egyptian Family House and with the vital support of the Embassy of the Netherlands in Cairo.
Archbishop Dr. Samy Fawzi, Archbishop of the Anglican Province of Alexandria, opened the ceremony by emphasizing the critical importance of proactive initiatives. He noted that preventing conflicts before they arise through dialogue is essential for building a safe and stable society.
Bishop Dr. Mouneer Anis, Director of CCMUP, reviewed the curriculum of the courses. He expressed his deep gratitude to the Embassy of the Netherlands in Cairo for supporting this project, as well as his gratitude to The Egyptian Family House for its role in candidate selection and praised the trainers’ efforts, specifically highlighting Ms. Ayat Abdel Aziz for her exceptional organizational contributions.
During her keynote address, Ms. Eva Witteman, Deputy Ambassador of the Netherlands to Cairo, expressed her appreciation in partnering with the Centre, emphasizing how investing in peacebuilding and conflict resolution is the cornerstone of societal stability and development. She affirmed how this project provides youth and community leaders with the necessary tools to transform differences into opportunities for mutual understanding and collective growth.
The event was attended by Sheikh Dr. Ahmed Al-Awadhi, representing H.E. Dr. Nazir Mohamed Ayyad, the Grand Mufti of Egypt, and Counselor Adly Hussein, former Governor of Qalyubia and member of the CCMUP Board of Trustees, alongside several prominent public figures.
In the closing session, graduates shared the field expertise they acquired, confirming the program’s added value in strengthening Egypt’s social fabric. Participants called for the continuity of such programs to build a cadre of leaders capable of spreading a culture of peace.
This project’s trainings were held in 4 Egyptian provinces: Cairo, El-Minya, Menoufia, and Alexandria. This ceremony was for participants from Cairo and Menoufia. Ceremonies for participants in Alexandria and El-Minya are scheduled to be on 4th April 2026, within these provinces.
This project is a core component of CCMUP’s ongoing strategy to promote peace-building and provide youth and community leaders with practical tools to resolve challenges through peaceful, inclusive and tolerant means.
